Will two 700 amp batteries start an 8v71 DD? My bus is set up with a twelve volt starting system and there is no OEM ac.

FWIW - I don't see any reason why it wouldn't. If U have factory AC & Heat there may be a problem when U engauge them.
I use 2 12V series 31 batteries to start and run the 8V71 DD in my Eagle. The factory Heat and Air in my coach has been removed.

Enjoying the journey in NC

you should be fine as long as it's warm out.
my cruiser has a pair of 1450's and i still needed a jump once when it was 35 degrees out @ 4,000 feet.

Yes, but I'm assuming that these aren't car size batteries, which may work for a short time when the weather is nice and no extra cranking is needed

Two 700's (is this 700CA or 700CCA?) might be marginal, especially for an 8V71 (I have two 730CCA batteries in my diesel pickup). I'd try for at least a pair of 850 Group 31's.

Thanks for the info guys. I'm studying up on batteries in an attempt to make the best choice of batts for my bus. Here is a very interesting web site about batteries.

www.vonwentzel.net/index.html

He has a sailboat and I figured a sailboat is nothing but an RV for the water. Hope you guys can check it out and post what you think of his study on batteries.

Thanks Steve 77amg
