Hello I've been considering an RTS bus to convert, but have a couple of questions... I was curious as to what you are doing with the wheel well area in the front of the bus. Can you get a co-pilot seat in front of the wheel well? Or is there not enough room to do that? The other three wheel wells wolld be much less of a concern, as their location should allow a sofa behind the driver, and beds in the rear. How tall are the wheel wells? I seem to recall them at about 12 inches. Does anybody recall the distance from the rear firewall to the wheel wells? Thanks alot, guys Mark |

Mark; I have some pictures of a converted RTS that might give you some insight as to what can be done with one of them, see: http://www.wardhill.net/ayjay/bus Also You might consider posing your questions on the RTS Bus-Nuts forum; http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/RTS-bus-nuts/. There are several pages of pictures showing the RTS from bare frame through completion along with specifications. AyJay |

Mr. Molloy, I'm compelled to comment on your RTS conversion, and must really thank you because it dispelled many of my previous objections to an RTS as a choice for consideration as a shell for my planned conversion. Totally sends me back to school and makes me re-evaluate everything, just when I thought I had this bus thing almost figured out! As for your bus, I have to say (IMHO) it ranks among the best looking and most tasteful conversions which I have seen, regardless of the type of shell. You should be proud, as I'm sure you are. Thank you again for helping open my eyes. Also, thanks to Ian and everyone else here for this wonderful place to learn! I love it, makes it so much easier for me to pursue making my conversion a reality. Thomas Weeks BusCrazyTom the Analog Dinosaur |

My son and I think this is some the best work we have seen. We have a 102A3 and we have worked very hard to get to this so we know how hard this is to do. LOTS of time. |

Arnold, really great looking conversion! RTS looks like the "sports car" bus! Those things were stylish even when used as a transit bus. May I ask where the entry door came from? Didn't RTS' have bi-folds originally? Best, JR |

This is what mine looks like right now: http://www.83t.com/rts/CIMG0506.JPG http://www.83t.com/rts/CIMG0513.JPG There is less than a foot between the front of the rear seat and the wheel well. There's also a lot more pictures here: http://www.83t.com/rts (Message edited by delzy_rstii_03 on November 15, 2006) |

Hi My RTS is almost completed Photos----> http://community.webshots.com/user/hawk_ii Each of the welded sections are 5' - the wheel wells are about 12" high and 24" wide and 4' long and all are centered in thier 5' sections From the end of the rear wheel well to the front of the rear bench seat is about 6" - the rear seats starts at a new 5' section - the top of the rear bench is about 12-14" high and the top is about 20" deep and the upper back portion of the rear seat is slanted back a few more inches So - from the front most edge of the window that's over the rear wheel well - to the rear most top of the rear bench seat its 80" - perfect for RV twin bunk beds (34 x 80) Mine will be on slides - cause at 60 - i'm still to young to want twin beds - then in the morning the beds can slide apart for extra dressing area in the bedroom between the bunks - my 102" wide is about 96" inside - that leaves a 28" isle between the beds when apart |
