Ok, Continuing my bus education, here's another question for this knowledgable group. I saw an MCI 4 for sale the other day, and was startled to see how much it looked like a 4106 from the same era. Is the 4 just a copy of the 4106? Tom |

Here is what I remember from driving for Brewster's 30, 35 years ago. The MCI Courier 96 was a good solid coach. Then came the MC 1 and 2 and 3. We didn't like them much because they were rattelly and flimsy. We never had MC 4s. Were they built on the same platform as the 3s? The MC5 (A and B) were much better. Sorry, not much help. |

Any information is good information, JC. Thanks. I can't say about whether or not is built on the same platform as the '3...im just astonished how similar the 4 is to a 4106 (visually). Tom |

The MCI3 had the 6v71 and the MCI-4 had the 8v71 like the 4106. they also switched from the 5 speed to the 4 speed trans. The Prototype MC4 was built in 1961 before the MC3 hit the assy line. The 4 had a 10" longer wheel base and they moved the A/C condensor to the oposite side. They made 50 model MCI-4's. The 4's had 6 baggage doors and the 5's had 4. The 5 came out in 1964 and so did the MCI-5A. The 1948 3703 GM's wanted the 8v71. (ok I added that part) |

Thanks Frank and Dave, That's mostly what I wanted to know. Wasn't really planning on buying it though Frank, just very curious. Only 50 made Dave? That must be a rare bus I saw then. I knew I'd never seen one before. Tom |

To the nice individual, Neil, who saw this post and sent me an e-mail. Somehow yahoo lost your e-mail before I could respond. Thank you for the offer, but it sounds like it would be better for someone who would be able to use it as equipped and wouldn't have to re-convert it for thier use as would I, considering my usage is a specialty. Thanks Tom |
