Does anybody know of some sort of heat strips that can be applied to bus mirrors to keep the ice off? If not any ideas on building something? |

I put an 1156 light bulb painted black, behind the glass, between the mirror and the frame. It has worked great for 13 years. I have both oon a switch in the cab. |

Hey I@n , I'm sorry that I posted a link to a bus parts vendor to try to help this guy out. I'm guessing that you removed my post because it was a form of advertising? I have no association with them, I was just trying to help. Mike, You may e-mail me for this link or use the other half of the post that I typed (and was removed) which stated that you might be able to find heated mirrors in a school bus or truck boneyard, break the mirror and remove the heater strips fom the glass. hth, Tq |

Mike, there is another direction you might go with mirror heat. Stainless steel wire and/or Nichrome wire is being used to heat things like injector lines for WVO. I use Nichrome wire on 12V to cut foam for RC airplanes. You would want to use a bit longer piece so it did not get that hot. I will not include any more info than this because I have not tried it, nor do I have any specific lengths, etc. but a length of wire spiralled and epoxied or siliconed(?) to the back of the mirror glass may fill the bill. Others may have better input and more details than I have. JJ |
