It's VERY easy. 1. Drain coolant. (About 14 gallons. Save it if it's good.) 2. Remove the clamp that seals the outlet pipe to the block. 3. Remove the inlet pipe/connectons. 4. Remove the three bolts that hold the pump to the blower. (Easier said than done, I heated & bent a wrench to fit the rear bolt which is a bear to get out.) 5. Take the pump to your friendly DD Dealer & buy a Reliabuilt exchange. Be sure you mention that it is a reverse rotation inline 6-71 (everytime you buy DD parts.) While you have the cooling system apart, check or replace the thermostat, hoses etc. Might as well do it all while you have it apart. I rodded out my radiator at this time but I had an overheating problem. (When I took it apart, 82% of the tubes were clogged but you could still drive it 50mph all day long!) Jim-Bob |

Double check the length of the thermostats if you opt to change them. The newer short-barreled ones are about $25.00 (each) cheaper than the originals, (at almost a $100.00 bucks a pop!) Don't let the counterman tell you that they won't fit. Diameter and temp range are important, length of the "pellet" isn't. HTH Cheers...JJ |
