I want to move my genset to the condenser bay on my 4106. I was hoping that there would be something to attach a floor to. All I see are two little tabs at the back that hold the floor screen. They are not strong enough to hold the generator are they? How is this done on the GMs? Ideas, and if possible, photos would help.

Thanks

Laryn, I mounted a large LP tank in that spot by running two 1.5 x 3 channel iron across making a flange to bolt them in. It worked pretty well. put the flat side up to mount your vibration isolators to it. By the way, we are two hours north of you just west of New Market.
Godspeed,
Michael

Michael,

Did you run them lengthwise (front to back of bus) or side to side? Where and how are they attached? Through the floor of the front bay, and the floor of the back bay? Thanks for your help. I have a brother who I visit in Maryland, usually once a year, so I travel through New Market. How far off of the beaten path are you?

Thanks again,

Laryn

Attached brackets to the bulkheads, attached 3" angle iron, layed down 1" plywood and installed 8KW, water-cooled, diesel Onan. Completely sealed & sound-proofed compartment.(Used 1" lead foam). Ran 1" copper water lines to the air conditioning compartment in the back of the bus & installed radiator & auxilliary 120V water pump.

Works great & is very quiet

Laryn,
I had to run out to the bus and refresh my memory. I ran a piece or the channel lengthwise and welded two pieces out to the aluminum frame that used to be under the condensor. The lengthwise piece is fastened to the bulkhead.
Darrels idea sounds good too. That is a good way to deal with the noise.
We are six miles west of New Market just outside of Timberville. We have plenty of room for coaches. I have a daughter on staff at Tech and pass through Roanoke often.
Michael
