I don't think it will last long. Urine is corrosive.

Go for a plastic tank.

I have aluminum for my grey and don't expect a problem. I can't see how full it is unlike my other tanks but thats a problem not hard to overcome for grey.

You guys are nuts if you think aluminum won't last as a black tank! I know mine has only been used for a couple of years with no problems but it takes tank management! I expect mine to last a very long time!
I have seen aluminum porta potties at the local air show that were specially made for that show back in the 80's and they are still working today and the guy that made them then helped to make mine!
I wouldn't hesitate to use one and IF it ever did fail, you can always repalce it with the same thing over and over but I doubt you will have to!
Urine and waste has stayed in mine thru the heat of the summer and cold of the florida winters without failure!
I think plain water does more harm to aluminum than urine. My opinion!

As for seeing how much you have in the tank? Do what I did and make your own site tube on the outside of the tank. Cost was about 5 bucks. Two fittings, one at top and one at bottome with clear hose between!

Again it worked for me but I am the one with the round aluminum fuel tank hung from the rafters!

Ace, I use acid to clean the aluminum on my trucks all the time. I just wasn't sure weather or not the sight tube might hang a turd now and again!

Urine is so diluted that it is not a big problem especially if you have only one tank.

You don't have worry about any waste clogging the site tube. It's small enough that it only shows a liquid and besides, the waste is continually being broke up with movement and micro organism's!

Not only do I agree with Ace, although I think he might have tempered his comment a little( You guys are nuts- but I hope he ment it in positive way.)But I to am going to take aluminum fuel tanks and make one gray and black tank thus diluting the urin as Gusc pointed out.

Douglas no, I wasn't trying to sound mean! It just gets really old when fellows come on here and talk down, what has been done with great results in the past. Most of the time they talk about what they only heard from "some" others and never done it or used it themselves. Then again there are those that know it all whether they have done it or not! :-)

Aluminum works very well for black/gray tanks and is easy to work with not to mention cheap to find!

I have had aluminum tanks in my coach for 20 or more years all but my drinking water and it is stainless steel, these are in a MCI 7 original new york yankees tour bus, converted and is now for sale.
I have since converted an Eagle, and you guessed it it also has aluminum tanks.

Urine will definitely corrode aluminum tanks. I guarantee they won't last more than a hundred years.

For those who have been successful with aluminum tanks, how thick is the aluminum? Did you have them made? If not custom made what type of tanks did you use.

Thanks,
Don 4107-501

LOL Douglas there is nothing wrong with agreeing with those that have actually done something positive and that really works. It's the agreeing with those that haven't done anything other than hear it from someone else that really surprise's me! Some people agree/disagree just to agree/disagree so they can be heard!

Go figure that one! :-)
