what rubbers are you talking about?

12k for an auto conversion

very hard to make shine without removing the anodization if it has gotten bad oxidation

Dutch -

If Doug doesn't have manuals, there's a fellow on eBay that often has them. Do a search for the seller "Paul4" and send him a message. There are four books you need: Parts Book (X-161003), Maintenance Manual (X-6114), Maintenance Manual Supplement (X-6414), and an Operator's Handbook (X-6107, or the Greyhound one, they're virtually identical).

The holding tank is buried in the body of the coach above the transmission. A real PITA to remove - comes out much easier if the powertrain's out.

Agree with Doug, we need to know what rubber seals you're talking about to give you intelligent answers. Windows? Front door? Baggage bay?

$12K is about right for the auto conversion. Nimco in NJ is where lots of folk get their V-730s, plus all the extras needed. Your fuel mileage will suffer some from the installation, but the bus will be easier to drive, especially around town. OTOH, if you like to shift, maybe you need new springs on the mousetrap (the goodie on top of the transmission that lowers the clutch resistance, NOT the emergency shut-down flap on the engine, as Mr Greenwood likes to call it.)

If your clutch is hard to push, and you've got a mousetrap, then it's badly out of adjustment and/or the springs have gotten weak. Per DA BOOK, you HAVE to start at the front of the coach and work your way back to adjust the clutch properly.

If you don't have a mousetrap, Luke may have one in his parts stash. Contact info below. . .

You cannot make a GM shine like a stainless steel MCI or Prevost unless you remove the anodization on the aluminum, which is a VERY tough job. Then you have to either clear-coat it or constantly keep repolishing to keep it shiny, as the anodization keeps the aluminum from oxidizing. Might be easier to have it painted, and have a paint shop match the aluminum color.

If you haven't put it into your little black book yet, here's Luke's contact info. (Luke is one of the great supporters of the busnut community. Fair prices, excellent service, same day shipping, great source of GMC parts.)

Dutch's bus has had the clutch assist removed. After driving his bus I don't understand why anyone would remove it. Wow! the push down is not too bad, but holding it, or letting it back out for a smooth start is no fun. I thought the aluminium was decent for its age. Nice straight bus.

Luke sent me new entry door seals for my 4106...fit perfectly and tighter than a (you fill in the blank)...door difficult to close at first but after some time and use, seal settled in and works great...sure is nice to have a dry entry way. Hats off to LUKE and staff at US COACH
