We spent our weekend scouting by car the Blue Ridge Parkway and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park in North Carolina. The steep grades, tunnels and scenery were the most impressive. We would enjoy hearing from anyone that climbed US-441 in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park; heading towards Gatlinburg TN with a 35 or 40ft bus and toad? There seem to be enough camp grounds and RVs are welcome just about everywhere you turn. Let us know if you’ve camped with a bus in this region and if so where did you stay? Thanks!

We stayed at the KOA in Cherokee for a week.

Good home base for visiting the area.

Don't spend the extra cash for the riversedge space.

Any center space is fine.

I have made the trip on 441 both ways several times with my Eagle and pulling a toad. No problems and an awesome trip.
I tried the Blue Ridge Parkway, but got off at the first exit I came to. The clearances for the tunnels were so low that I had to drive the center line. No fun when you could not see the other end.

Saw a sticks and staples at a camp ground close by there with a BIG rip in the roof, rear camp and missing awning. Went over to help him duct tape it together. Said it happened on the parkway -- rocks over hanging the side of the road and traffic coming the other way -- got to close and hit the rocks!
