Can anyone tell Me how to tell if My mci7 has a right hand rotation engine. Would the engine from a international semi tractor from 1978 have a right rotation engine. The engine from the semi says on the valve cover that it is from the 8v71n family. thanks |

john: Ibeleive that your engine is rh and also is the other and would work. look at the engine and see what pitch direction on the fan blade. if you can run look at the pulley end and if it runs counterclockwise it is lh and vica-versa |

The rule is usually...MCI's are usually only RH engines.Like trucks. If you have a T-drive it is a RIGHT HAND engine and tranny. So that said, Just about any Semi Tractor engine, transmission and parts are the same, Just turned around 180 degrees. The rule if you can make it fit, Run it.... When you look at the engine in a truck, Just imagine that you are looking at the back end of the bus. after that it's easy... If the engine sits sideways is would be a V-drive and most are LEFT HAND engines.(exceptions exist). |

Is that Nick Pino's old bus?? I spoke to him, but dcided not to buy as it was not a raised roof. I am 6'5", son is 6'7". Is that bus as clean as the pics. I could not get over just pristine inside and out. Good Luck with a Beautiful Bus !!!!! Gary |

John, Dave's post puts out all of the technicalities, and is correct. If your engine runs, start it up and look at the crankshaft pulley. If it turns clockwise as you face it, its right hand. (The top of the pulley moves toward the right.) All MCI, Eagle, and Prevost hiway coaches are right hand. All GM hiway coaches except PD4501 are left hand,V drive, and sit crossways in the back of the bus. The V engines have the left bank of cylinders horizontal. Most of the transits are called a V drive, and are left hand. George |

Easy to tell when running when looking at the front of the engine (opposite end from the transmission). RH turns clockwise, LH turns counter clockwise. It is called a RH engine since you used the right hand to hand crank over the engine before electric starters. Good Luck, TomC |
