Hi we have a friend that has a 60 series that keep throwing alternator belts, changed the main bracket & bolts, pullys look ok,new alternator,it will run with one belt may be 500mls,it drives off the accessory pully, any help he left Fl& just getting to TX 6 belts gone,thanks Darren.

When you got the new alternator did you put the old pulley on the new alternator or check them for same? Measure pulley position on both units for alignment? Did the shop leave out a spacer and cock the alt to one side? Are the batterys dead? Is something pulling a constant full load on the alternator?

We had the same problem. It was the tensioner pullies. The bearings get worn and it goes out of aleignment no matter how you adjust it. I don't think they make the manual adjusting type any more, but you generally can just change the bearings in the 2 pullies.
