I bought six Bridgestone R250 11R22.5 yesterday $2,450.26. That was rolled in my trailer and I will mount them. I just wanted to share this pain with people who understand. :-( Thanks

For even MORE pain...pay big bucks for a conversion shell and then find out the whole rear under framing is rusty swiss cheese.Or ultimate pain; pay big big bucks and buy a conversion, only to find the same thing out. Of course, the most pain is not having the board for a few days.

My Tires with all the extra taxes, install and computer balancing was over $5,600 for 8 tires.

You are lucky to only pay $2,400 or so. The hard part is when you pay the tire guy to pull and change all the tires and make hom computer balance each one off the coach before installing.
"Ouch!"....

Not to mention that almost all tires are out of round and should be trued to make them 100%, couldnt believe how much they had to remove from our eagle a few years back.

You spent about 100.00 too much per tire. I could get you the bridgestone r280 for 326.00 each...if your coach was in GA, the mount and balance would be about 60.00 for the six!!! Sometimes, its not what you know, its who you know!!!

Gee, John... here you were looking to share the pain and you just got more of it! LOL, how's retirement so far? By the way, if you need some good balancing on those tires, I like Snyder Tire on Hwy 27 in Haines City.

John, You bought the best tire on the market. Why would you pay to have them balanced. Are your wheels out of balance? A Bridgestone tire has a factory balance mark on it that indicates where to put the valve stem. The weight of the valve stem offsets the lightest spot on the tire and the assembly is then "balanced". What good is a 5 ounce weight on a tire carrying 6000 lbs? If a tire carrying 6000 lbs is "vibrating" it needs to be removed at once because it has plyliner damage and its going to come apart. Same thing with cutting rubber off a tire to make it round. If a tire is no longer "round", its junk. Truing a 6000 lb rated truck tire is foolish, the casing is out of round. Take it off immediately and replace it. If my new Bridgestones needed balanced, I would make my dealer get me another tire. Tires are cheap. If you take chances with tires, the sky is the limit in both damages and down time. Hey, put in some new valve stems with the money you save on the balance ripoff.

Gary Pasternak,
I bought mine from Perth Amboy tire; phone number is (732) 442-3232 .
I got the Firestone FS560, 12R22.5 mounted with new valve stems and of coarse but on the coach for $380.00 each.
They even paid me for my old casings.

Hi Gary,
Service tire in Vineland is where I purchaced my Firestone F-400's. They stock them for a local bus Co. Back in December, I paid $360 per tire.
Good Luck

Thanks Guys, I will check it out. I also had a friend who sells for Michelin, suggest "Take Offs" which a truck company may have purchased a power unit, but has to have a certain tire. The "take offs" would sold at a lesser price.
Any one have luck with this?? I really do not like the sound of it, like buying a former rental car... I have 24" alcoha's so we will see. I think I will sping for the new Michelins for the steers and go from there.
Thanks to all.

There's also Advance Tire in Rosenhayn. We have purchased tires from them over the years for our tractor trailers. They were always fair with us.

Tekebird, Thanks now I too feel the pain.
Thats a $300.00 savings per pair, you know I would have driven to Harrisburg for that deal.
Gary, the 24" tires are cheaper. and I have been told that the Michelin's have the most blow outs, I don't need that.

Whats said about used tires ?? I purchased 6 used 11R-22.5 tires with almost 90% tread left on them, Only problem was one steer was alittle more worn than other. The guy i purchased from in Ramona, Ca works for the tire company and told me the only reason he took these off was because he gets new tires every year. I am going to use his steer tires for my tags and get new steers put on.I HOPE THEY WORK OK.
If you own a bus there will always be pain as I am soon learning, YIKES. RJmule

Tim M. You have to be from Southern NJ to know where Rosenhayn is. Great people from that area. I did some security wiring in that area as well as In Pittsgrove. The area takes me back to W.Va.
Tekebird, what tires did you purchase for that price? Mfr & size.
I am not sure how much I will save with the 24" wheels?
I am surprised about the comment of Michelins having more blowouts, I have had the absolute performance with them on trucks and autos. Long life & great ride...
Teke, Where in H'burg ??

Thanks

I bought 6 continental same size for my 4106 and was told had a choice between regular tread and "all season" I took the "all season" since i get off road at bluegrass festivals etc. after mounting and runnig a while...closer inspection said MAX SPEED 55 MPH on sidewall. turns out they are 20ply transit tires used for city buses whose drivers use the curb for brakes. 20 ply does not deseminate heat well so its low speed for me

Jim, are you sure that your tires do not dissipate heat well? We have one 55 mph tire, and it is the coolest running one that we have.

I would not be afraid of this tire overheating. Perhaps, you ought to check yours after shortish runs to see if they are running too warm. An IR gun is ideal for checking this out.

For what it's worth.

Tom Suncatcher...ignorance is bliss...i ran tires about 1000 miles at up to 70 with no problems. it was after I read the sidewall closely that I saw the MAX 55 mph. I have been told that 20 ply do not get rid of heat very quickly...but also that I should not worry about it unless I was running long distance in really hot weather without a stop...basically...I was just whining along with the theme on the string....thanx for the comeback..keep on bussin

$2450? All I can say is YIKES.

For me, it's take-offs (Goodyear highway rib) on the front, traction Bandags on the drive, 11R22.5 all around.
