http://www.insulation4less.com/

I just bought a roll of insulation for the bus, from the above link..........They recomend having an airspace of at least 3/4".
My ? is, I have large amount of ceiling tile about 1.1/2" thick fiberglass, aluminum foil one side fabric on the other side. If I stuff this AND the 1/4 " new insulation into the bus frame (sides above deck) can I consider the FIBERGLASS as air space???...........TIA Ken.

They sell this stuff a Lowes also... the dead air space that they recommend to be used with it is what gives such a high R value. Without the air space, it gives little R value. Chech the info on the same stuff at Lowes; make sure you read all the info that comes with it.

Foam panels have most of the airspace inside the foam itself.

Fiberglass conducts heat much better without that extra airspace. aka: Not as good as foam (ever)...

And foam won't make you itch....

I would try an experiment if I were you.

Do a small section with the ceiling tile, and another small section without the ceiling tile, using the foil with both. Measure the surface with a noncontact thermometer and you should have the answer.
Doing it on the sunny side of the coach should be the best.
This has come up before, so please post the results if you do a test.
