I'm trying to figure out the part number for the turbocharger on my bus. The engine came out of a 1980 Grumman bus. There is no ID tag on the turbocharger. Looking in my Detroit Diesel book, I believe this is either a TV71 or a TV81 series turbocharger as it is held together with two V-band couplings. The numbers I find on the exhaust housing are "Airesearch M1 1.23". On the compressor housing, there is "A/R .95 ACD". Also, inside the compressor outlet, there is ".95" stamped into it. I pulled off the compressor and measured the inducer size, it is 2.920. The exducer size is 3.700. The turbine sizes are 3.765 and 3.300. Any help in identifying this turbocharger would be greatly appreciated! (TIA.) |

If the engine is originally setup with the same components( not turbo'ed later ) if you find the engine builder's tag with the factory numbers, I can probably look it up in my engine parts book- they usually put the different units in groups with a parts breakdown for each group; injectors, oil pumps, turbos, etc. |
