Well, Ive got my stairs in and Im in search of lighting possibilities for the treads. I really dont want to see the source of the light just the light. Any ideas would be apreciated. Ive seen the edge of the treads lit up but dont know for sure how they do it. I allso need to address the edge of my treads with something. Thanks Steve |

We did as Ron mentioned. We used a piece of 2"x2" oak for our bullnose. We used a 3/8" round over bit on the top corner and a 1/4" round over on the bottom corner. We then routed a 3/8"x1/2" deep groove in the bottom of the bulnose. A section of rope light is installed in this groove. When installed in the bus, Each step is lighted by the rope light in the bullnose above, but you do not see the actual section of rope light. |

Thanks guys, Ill do a little research thata ways. My only concern there is the heat the lights produce. I had some rope lights that were to long once that I had around my ss and I coiled up the excess and hung it on the end of the awning and they all melted together. Thats the only reason im afraid of them as they turned all black too. It must not be a problem for you all though. Thanks Steve P.S. Jack, got the slides ok and really appreiciate them. They will work perfectly. Dawgoneit I missed your mags on ebay, then I missed your books on here. I started to weld in the mounting plates today for the slides. Ill send you a pic of that slideout when its finished thanks again, Steve in Ky |

Steve, Sorry you missed the other items. We decided we just had entirely too much "Stuff". I have decided to put expiration dates on my "stuff". If I haven't used it in a year, it will be gone. Well maybe it will be gone. As far as the lights getting too hot, ours are only warm. Never to hot to to touch. The packing that came with ours specifically said "DO NOT POWER THE LIGHTS WHEN ON THE ROLL". Apparently, when coiled, there is not enough air movement around the rope. Glad the slides will work for you. I would like to see photos of the installation. Jack (Message edited by JackConrad on April 24, 2007) |

You could drop by your local auto parts and look/ask for a license plate light. Like what is used on the bumper of a truck. They are chrome with a white lens and just pop into a hole. Autozone has them in their electrical aisle. |
