I have removed the transmssion and got the new one ready to put in.
I need to switch the plate that the universal bolts to and is also where the speed sensor is
It is held on by a 2 and 3/4 inch nut.
Any tricks to get it off and where did you get a wrench or socket that big to remove it. rental places here in town don't even have one that large.
thanks carl

Carl, take all the pieces to your local larg truck dealer such as freight liner and have them change it over for you. they will have all the tools reguired such as the socket and the tourqe wrench that will bring it to the right specs. when replaced. it is very importany that this nut is on proper or it may shake loose and do a lot of damage, the mony spent is well spent.

Mel:
Thanks for your quick reply.
I have a MCI repair center close by
I will talk to them and see if they will do it
if they will not I will go to a truck center.

That nut probably torques at 300 lbs or more.
As Mel says, this ain't a home job...unless you have the stuff to do it with. It will come off using a 1" impact. The same one that's used to remove the wheels. NAPA, Snap-On, Matco, Cornwall all have the sockets you need to remove it. A fixture will have to be fabricated to hold the flange for removal and tightening. Definitely a job for an Allison dealer.
Best, JR
