Does anyone know how hot the engine compartment bulkhead gets on the inside??? I am thinking of putting a layer of 1/2" blueboard over the whole area and wanted to make sure it wouldn't get to hot. If it would can you give me some other info for isulation and sound proofing, putting in a back bedroom with a queen size bed.
Thanks
Schrec

Are you planning to put it in the interior side of the bulkhead or engine side. If you had an engine fire with SM insulation it would melt no matter which side you put it on filling the coach with toxic fumes.

I used Roxul Insulation on the interior side of the bulkhead. I use this because it's sound and fire proof (won't burn at high temp).

Heat wise, you could use the insulating blankets made for exhaust systems. They come in various dimensions. That would work pretty well. Or wrap up your whole exhaust system, like I just did. Makes a big difference.

Try EHP, they make great stuff of all types and thicknesses. A bit costly but it will never burn.

which Roxul product is a good way to go with?
they have it in boards with different thicknesses and blanket in different thicknesses?

Industrial Board

* RHT™ 100 Industrial Board
* RHT™ 120 Industrial Board
* RHT™ 40 Industrial Board
* RHT™ 60 Industrial Board
* RHT™ 80 Industrial Board

RW Blanket Insulation

* RW™ 40 Blanket
* RW™ 60 Blanket
* RW™ 80 Blanket

Ron and Joe. or anyone else, did you guys do your entire bus insulated in Roxul?? or just the back?

Gus. EHP looks very interesting. It looks fireproof as heck but I am puzzled as to how it is or how it would venture with sound and heat, etc.
Its so weird it seems like insulation is getting thinner and thinner these days. I would have to assume you need other insulation on top of that or no?

No I did the engine bulk head at the rear of the bus and I did my generator compartment with it.

Unlike some insulation Roxal fire proof and a sound barrier

We have a thermister near the top of the engine compartment directky above tge 8V71 in our MC-8. This is connected to the RV Safety Systems alarm panel near the driver. The engine compartment run 135*-150* depending on outside air temperature and engine load. We have never seen the tenperaqture exceed 150*. Jack
