I have an 1981 Eagle. The front mount on the right side for the torsion bar is either worn or the bar its self is worn. Where the bar goes into the mount, the bar has about 3/8" of space underneath it between the actual bar and the mount. Is there a shim that goes around the bar? The one on the other side seems to be tight fitting all the way around. I was wondering what would happen if I welded a support in the space between the bar and mount to fill up the space and make less play. I realize that down the road I may have to replace the whole works anyway. I live in Northern Ill. and have talked to Jefferson Truck about this but that is almost a 2000 mile round trip. Does anyone know anyplace around Northern Illinois to get this repaired. Any and all ideas would be appreciated. Thanks Bob |

Robert, If possible take & post on this bb'd a digital photo for us to view and maybe we can all get ideas to help you out, if it comes to not buying something as expensive as this I am the man to try not doing that but I cannot promise a quick fix here but between us all here we maybe can throw some good ideas to you to consider. You have a lot of professional converters here now so lets see what you got. We will look forard to your photo, the more the merrier also. Gary |

Some of the nicest folks I have dealt with is Tim Piper @ Tim's Bus service. 618-895-2424 618-231-0819 cell Or Tims father Harry 618-246-3295 They are in a small town called Bluford, Il I have had some pretty extensive work done by them. One time it included a front torsion bar. When you first drive up it may scare you with all the junk (old bus parts) laying around. Dont let that fool you they know what they are doing. Both times I had major trouble I was driving an Eagle and they always had parts etc to get me down the road. Tell Harry I sent you. (Make sure you can talk a while if you call Harry, as he loves to talk) Very nice guy. Best, Justin Griffith |
