the trans cooler that goes to the Allison v730 is leaking a little tranny fluid. Has anyone fixed a similar problem. This is a round heat exchanger. I would assume there is a large o-ring around the end where the tube meets the end cap, that needs to be replaced. Any advice would be appreciated. |

Hi Billy:
You didn't mention in your post what model coach you are operating & whether the V-730 is a factory installation or a conversion from a stick.
My point in mentioning this is that there are several styles of coolers available, all of which work just fine.
If you have a later model cooler such as was installed on an RTS then the cooler has 2 O'rings on top & 2 on the bottom. It is a matter of removing the 4 long external bolts and replacing same. If it is older cooler, then they were gasketed.
While dissassembled, it is the right time to have the cooler itself cleaned, in order to get maximum heat transfer between the oil & the water.

Thanks Luke. I am not sure how old it is. It came from a 75 AM General which I installed myself about 2 years ago.. I will just rip 'er open and see if I need o rings or gaskets. |
