Well guys, had something happen this weekend that I just can't figure out. We started out on a run Sunday morning. We had driven about 25-30 miles, when I looked back and saw smoke coming from the engine. Immediately pulled over and it was actually steam coming from the engine compartment. First thought was that I had blown a hose, but could not see any spray, etc. Then I noticed water/antifreeze coming from underneath the radiator. Looked close to find the radiator draincock was open. Tightened it back to stop the water. Engine never gained temp as we caught it quickly, and ran the rest of the trip with no problems.

What I can't figure out, it how the drain cock opened. It was actually about two turns open. I know it was not open when we first cranked up as there would have been water under the bus at that time. Has this happened to any of you before? Appears that the little gremlins are hanging out in our engine compartment.

have you done any work under the bus in that are lately? You could have bumped it enough to break it loose and then vibration from going down the road opened it up more.
Or if you drove off road and it snagged on something. Do you have dogs around your bus? they could have been chasing after something and bumped it loose.

I went to pet my dog one day only to come back with a handful of oily dirt/grunge. she had chased a bird under the bus and tried to crawl under after it.
