Need help were to install heater hoses on the engine for engine preheat. (DD-8V92 in MCI 102A3) These come from the Hydro-Hot unit. Like for them to be on the curb side of the bus. The driver side has the exhaust and air cleaner in the way. The Hydro-Hot is in the back bay on the curb side with the tanks. I have electric preheater on a plate bolted to the rear of engine on curb side. Like to keep this for back up. To the front of engine on the curb side is the 1" outlet for bus heat. Can I tee there for engine preheat? Could one hose go to the extra heat gauge sending unit port? Has any one installed ball valves on engine to isolate hoses to the Hydro-Hot unit in the event of a hose failure on the road? Anyone having experience with this issue I would appreciate your Help. Paul, While mine is a very different situation with a Webasto and A GM 4107 but what I did may help. I 'teed' into the lines running to and from the bus heat & it works fine. In really cold conditions I could shut the bus heat off with the valve in the front but I really don't think the little pump for preheat moves much coolant that far. Regards Jerry 4107 1120 |

Paul, I used a number of ball valves to isolate the engine, water heater, and heater zones. Dependent on season and weather conditions, I would open or bypass the components with the valves as needed. For the engine, which I preheated occasionally, I flowed in on the passenger side (return from heater core), and returned on the upper center (feed to heater core). Ed Roelle Flint, MI |

Paul, My 6v92 had a 3/4"NPT port behind the engine water pump (suction side). I hooked one end of the hose there. The other end I hooked to a 3/4" NPT port that was adjacent to my engine thermostat senders. I could tell this was pressurized because of its location. This created my cirulation loop. The loop has a small pump in it that I bought from Wrico that circulates water when I want to preheat. I fire the Webasto and send water through the heat exchanger and the engine loop scavenges heat from it to preheat the block. Your 8v should be somewhat similar. David |

Hello. Mine is plumbed inline with the heater circuit, same flow direction as the heater water. Into the Webasto via the "out of the engine line" on the top back of the motor, from the Webasto via the heater core, then "back to the engine line" down low, curb side engine acces piping.
