I'm installing a trailer brake contoller to my 05 Eagle. I need to connect to the stoplight switch that's activated when the brake is depressed. Where will I typically find the closest point to the driver console?... I'm guessing behind the front bumper where the spare tire is, but I haven't pulled it yet. Also presume that I'll have to run 40' +/- of 14 or 16 guage wire to the back to connect with the wiring bridle. Any tips or suggestions is appreciated. Thanks, dg |

Which one did you get? Similar air braked vehicles don't seem to work well with your typical electric timed or inertia type. The Hayes Lemerz Air/electric seems to have the best following of the less expensive ones. You T it off your application guage for the air input then hook up power, brakelight and ground. Pretty simple. It is adjustable and can be manually operated. I have one I am about to install after I researched it. Brakesmart is even nicer but more expensive. On your Eagle I am not sure where the switch is exactly but on a truck they are under the dash tied into the brake lines, usually a small 1/4 nylon or plastic hose from one of the treadle valve lines operates the brakelights. Could also be tied into the turn signal or headlight switch. Eagle guys? |

Doyle, open your door under the drivers window where your wiring and breakers are and you will find a place to tie into the brake lights i will look up the wire # if you need it, they have a few extra wires that go to the back panel if they have not been used for other things, you can pickup air supply from the parking brake (Message edited by luvrbus on August 07, 2007) (Message edited by luvrbus on August 07, 2007) (Message edited by luvrbus on August 07, 2007) |

If all you need is an electrical signal, why not tap into the brake light wire at the rear? (assuming you have seperate brake & turn lights) If you need an air signal, sorry, I've got nothing to help there. |

Thanks, guys... I have a Tekonsha P3 electrical input with inertia boost. I looked at the panel, but couldn't find the brake circuit. Gotta get out the manuals. There's a lot of dirt, dust and crud on the panel. I used low pressure air to try to clean it up a little. Do I dare use electrical contact cleaner? |
