My MCI-9 came with the top quarter of the windshields painted black. I want to remove the paint and take advantage of the extra visability. I will install visors for the sun as needed. Other than a razor blade and a lot of patience has anyone any thoughts. Iv. |

There is always the available paint removers but do you really want to chance dripping on the paint on your bus? I guess if it is a huge area, you could try the p remover that is a kinda paste but I would cover your bus multiple times to try to avoid contact with the stuff. If it is'nt too big I probably would try the razor blade myself. Maybe someone else has a different idea but I beleive in being cautious, unless, of course, you are in the beginning stages of conversion then p remover might be the key, wipe on, wipe off. |

Iv Get a gallon of laquer thinner. Get a rag and soak it, put it on a area and let it sit there then scrape it off with the razor blade. The thinner will lossen up the paint, make sure you work in small areas as to not get any thinner on the coach paint. Lee 66 01 Eagle |

IIRC, this black "paint" on the MCI windshield is actually vinyl, and it's on the INSIDE of the glass. Might try a heat gun to loosen the adhesive, lift up a corner and pull gently. RJ PD4106-2784 Fresno CA |

Did mine in about 5 minutes with a straight razor blade in a handle fitting. Like RJ said its a vinyl and will scrape right off. Steve |

RJ's right -- just get a corner lifted and peel it off. I didn't need or use heat gun or razor blade. |

How far have you driven your bus? Did you go east during the late afternoon? May want to prior to removing the cover. TomNPat |

I'd be tempted to leave the windshield as it is. It can be pretty bright and get pretty warm driving into the sun. DaveD |

Mine is missing the "painted" area and I WILL be putting it back. Makes for a cooler driver and easier to use a sun visor too. Peter. |

I appreciate the response to the "painted windshield" and I can see both points of view. But speaking of view, nothing can compare with cruising down the highway and being able to look out at a totally unabstructed panoramic view from the front of a bus. Not to mention being able to appreciate the full view while camping. For the rare times that we encounter bright afternoon or morning sun, while on the road, I will have visors to serve that purpose. Sorry, but the paint has to go. Iv. |

Get a CB Radio, because you'll be the first to see the 'bear in the air' and you can be a hero. Sounds like you have near a million miles on your bus and know your stuff better than most. Keep on keepin' on! TomNPat |

TomNPat, You've made the same error as John Wayne in "The Green Berets" where he and the young South Vietnamese kid watch the Sun set into the East. Steve |
