As I keep looking around Mid-Michigan, I came across a MCI 5, probably an early one with the green glass. It's at a commercial dealership and I'm curious what one should be priced at. There was no info on the vehicle. It has the 8V71, and is still seated. A few small dents, but looks real clean. I have read that these had wheel wells above the floor and had rust issues. Anything else to look for? |

While the MC5 series are 35'ers, and yes they do have wheel wells that can create some interior design problems, they're a good solid little bus. We own and are finishing our MC5A conversion in addition to full timing in it. With luck we'll be done in time to go back to FL for the winter. And they fit so well in the smaller RV parks, too. A 5 with an 8v71 can be an automatic, but unlikely, I've only seen 2. The rust on a 5 is in the same places as a 7 8 or 9 MCI. Under the D windows for one. I'm sitting in a nice older RV park in Cape Coral FL, I would not fit in here in a 40 ft bus!! |

Look under the spare tire compartment (behind the front bumper)and inspect the supports in that area for rust through. Repairable but should be noted. There are three series of 5's, the 5a, 5b, and 5c all a perfect 35 feet. All systems in proper working order and maintained and in good outward appearance...I think $5000 is a fair price. |
