I am in need of a manifold with shutoffs for my plumbing system. I have seen one in pictures somewhere and it looked like pvc colorcoded in blue and red with shutoffs. The system i would like to build has poly tubing in red and blue for hot and cold (homerun style) and a manifold with shutoffs for each appliance. I already have the tubing ordered but cannot find a manifold or any good ideas to constuct one. Would love to here what anybody else has done with there rig. Thanks Steve--FF in Massachusetts |

I remember seeing one like that, too. Colored valve handles. Don't remember where. I fabricated manifolds using a short length of 2" PVC. Solvent-welded (glued) end caps & then drilled & tapped as needed. Cheap! Can send pix, email me if desired. |

Steve, Go to www.vanguardpipe.com and check out the Manabloc. I think this is what you are looking for. I saw one installed in a Monaco Executive and it makes a neet installation. The web page says it is available at most plumbing supply houses. Tom Hamrick 84 Eagle 10S Forest City, NC |

Steve, Try Keith Specialty. http://www.keithspecialty.com/radiant%20heat.htm They have a 10 port manifold, 1" copper to 1/2" PEX that lists for $89.50. All copper with solid brass ball valves...No plastic like the Vanguard. Great guy's to deal with, I've done business with them for over 15 years with nothing less than the best of results! Our local Menards has the copper manifold for Pex tubing. For me if I use Pex tubing that won't freeze & burst what about the manifold? Maybe put a heat tape on it. C Ray |

I built three manifolds, hot water, cold water, & propane using blocks of aluminum that I had bored & tapped by a local job shop. They end bored and cross bored, tapped all opening in 1/2 inch pipe thread, charged me $25. Makes a very strong manifold with no extra joints to leak. Screw shut off valves directly into block, put plugs in ports not required yet. I screwed the cold water and propane manifolds to the ceiling of the bay. Gets them up out of harms way. The hot water manifold went in the vanity cabinet so it could be mounted higher than the water heater and lower than the faucet to allow gravity drain of entire system. Another way. Jim Stacy |
