I have an RV tub / shower with built in seat I’m going to install in my 4106. Nice that my bus came with 4” of spray foam on the ceiling but not so nice that I’m 6’ tall and already my hair hits the ceiling as it is. I know it is going to be a challenge to shower so I’m looking at possible ways to even get a few inches more height for the shower. One of the easiest ideas seems to be to set the tub part of the shower down into the existing floor. Of course I’ll have to check and see if I’ll still have enough room for the p-trap and still drain into a holding tank. QUESTION: is the floor a kind of “structural member” in the strength of the bus? My location is in about mid way (front to back) of the rear bay just in front of the battery box, street side, and the hole will be approximately 18” x 20”. The floor is already two layers of plywood -- the original floor and a layer of newer ½” plywood on top. Of course I'll plan to reinforce around the opening below the floor but what, if any, problems is cutting a hole this size in the floor going to be? |

I wonder if installing a large bubble-type skylight might be an easier way to give you more headroom? Scott |

I like the idea of skylight can they be installed in the most curved part of the roof? I must admit never paying much attention to them on other RV or bus RV's before. I plan to put my tub/shower against the wall rather than out in the aisle. Must they be installed parralell to the ground? |

I just finished a "dropped" stainless steel shower pan installation in my Eagle-01.It turned out even better than expected. The shower pan was made by a local A/C shop. All welded{or braised} seams, lifetime quality. It measures 28wide X 32 long X 10 inches deep.I had them bend a one inch flange on all 4 sides so when its dropped into the hole, it can be screwed fast all around. My location is above the starting batteries on the drivers side, just ahead of the drive axle.I cut the hole as long as I could{tight against the steel frame members} and as wide as my hall layout would allow.Thats how I arrived at the finished size.A platform was then built using double 3/4 inch plywood, glued and screwed tight. The platrorm is supported by vertical 2x2 yellow pine posts around three sides, and a 2x4 stringer across the front. That leaves plenty of room to check battery water, and to run the drain and trap. The gray water tank in in the next bay foreward, so it drains great. The inside of the pan has thinset morter sloped to the drain and allowed to harden.About two inches thick at outside edges to one-half inch thick at drain. {comcrete can also be used here}Ceramic tile was then cut to fit around the drain and installed, then grouted. I used 18x18 floor tile cut into segments {pie shaped} to the center drain.Hardy tile backer board was installed over one half inch plywood, over wood studs, all glued and screwed tight. The entire shower stall was then finished with 6x6 tile. Looks sharp and works great.Headroom in shower is 83 inches.A custom made clear glass shower door completes the job. There is a seat in the shower to the left{as you enter} that measures 24x28. It allows the occupant to sit and wash feet, etc. I installed a 12 volt power vent in the ceiling that exausts steam and lets in plenty of light. There is also a 12 volt RV type light near the ceiling to the left above the seat. That lights up the whole shower stall at night. The space under the seat has a drawer that pulls out into the hall{ for storage.} |

I can't find a bubble skylight, any suggestions? Since I know the roof of my 06 is a structural member and I would like a skylight about 30" x 20" what should I do to support the hole? |
