Hello! I was wondering if I could get some opinions about the benifits, if any, to keeping the factory heat/Air on my TMC Crusader? I always thought that the hot water line coming form the engine was actually inside that stainless steel tunnel but after I realized it wasn't I decided to take the ss tunnel out along with the ducting on the wall. Man O Man that was pretty gross in there! Since my heat & air work, I had planned on maybe putting a register in the floor over the main vent & blocking off the smaller ones that went to the baffles on the wall. If I were to do the floor register thing, should I keep the other smaller holes in the floor open & put registers over them too? I do NOT need the space where the condensor is so other than space is there a logical reason to disable a working system? I would imagine that the increase in power from removing my A/C compressor would be noticeable but it already flies so power isn't an issue. I just go by the old saying: "If It Ain't Broke Don't Fix It" & was quiet apprehensive about doing anything to it since they put a $3,000.00 remanned compressor on it along with a new evaporator & condensor. I can see taking it all out & selling the stuff to put the money back into the conversion but I'd like to know what YOU would do! Would keeping just the main floor vents open be ok? One other question!!! Is the vent on the right side front, going from the wall to the floor, anything other than a fresh air intake for the Heating & Air system? I was thinking about keeping the vent to the outside & maybe putting a cover over it in case I might ever need it to vent something outside maybe but really can't make my decision until I know for sure that it is only a fresh air intake for the heating/air. I spent about 10 hours gluing new rubber backed carpet up on the sidewall & it turned out awesome! I retained the original trim along the bottom of the windows as I like that & it is in memory of it's heritage! It IS an old bus & I like that look! I like the giant windows & have absolutely no desire to cover them all like most people do. Like somebody on here said before in another post.. "Why Do People Buy A DC-3 & Make It Look Like A Lear Jet? Why would I get a modern front cap when I like the step up & the ramp so much? It does present some flooring issues but it's just a thing. Thanks for reading this ebook & sorry if I bored you to sleep or to tears! Bye For Now & Take Care, Jeff |

On the homeowners... Both Good Sam and FMCA are dogged in their support for RV'ers rights to park at home. Join one or both, and get their written materials to assist you in this regard. On the stock HVAC... I kept mine, and my windows. Others have done the same, fear not, you're not alone! happy coaching! buswarrior |

I just put a register over the outlet vent and the air is directed towards the front and modified the centre return air system by eliminating the ramp and putting a step in at the front with mesh on the riser for the return air. If you had no use for the back 2/3 of the centre tunnel, you could retain the 4 floor returns at the back and fit vents over them so as to get some air circulating from front to back. I cut the fresh air duct off at floor level and flush with the inside of the wall and put a grill on the side wall to give a bit of permanent fresh air at floor level (required here by gas regulations) |
