I just received mail from Mallie. Should you recieve one it contains notice about virus but the letter is a virus. Must have gone through this or one of the other bus boards. Dont open or if you do do not hit the reply. McAfee website has the info on it.

If it is one of the newer ones going around, it may be a worm and not actually have come from Mallie at all. It could have come from another person, who had Mallie in their address book. The worm sends itself on by spoofing an address in the person's address book. Anyway, my point in mentioning this is to say that it is possible that Mallie's machine is not necessarily the one infected. On the other hand, not knowing the details, it could be.

Hi Ed,

You can't "go through this" web site and collect a virus on the way - it is impossible.

The worm was likely sent to you without the sender knowing that their e-mail client was "infected".

It is incomprehensible that anyone using this bulletin board could ever get a virus from anywhere with the number of messages this bbs has received suggesting that viewers purchase a reliable anti-virus software program such as Norton AntiVirus for their computer, which would, of course, virtually eliminate the possibility of infection.

Ain't no virus on us,
Ain't no virus on us!
There may be viruses on the other guyses,
But there ain't no virus on us!!
(With my sincerest apologies to the kids at Camp Naorca, King City, Ontario, Canada).

For what it is worth, if you go to www.grisoft.com they have a free antivirus program and free updates that beats Norton, Mcafee and all the others hands down and again, it is free. FWIW

Hi Bradd - and others,

The usual caveat should be applied to this recommendation from Bradd. "For what it is worth" means, in this case, free. If you read the fine print, you will discover that there is no technical support with the free version. That means if anything goes wrong with the download, installation, future problems or the activation of a virus on your computer, it is YOUR problem, not theirs.

We use Norton AntiVirus here at BNO. And we agree with Bradd - you should be using something.

Regards,

Ian Giffin
