I can't find the weight of my bus in the owners manual and was wondering if anyone knows the empty weight of the bus. |

Our Sportscar (4106) was a tiny bit under 20,000 seats out , me in , with the coach heater and Trane air cond yet to be removed. The 04 had heavier aluminum but a lighter engine, about equal. AS the registration weight is what the cops use as your "legal weight" when crossing a bridge I would go for 32,000 as thats all the axles/ tires will take. If you play games and register it at a very light weight , the cops have portable scales they can bring on scene. Being "overweight" is big buck$. Greyhound and GM never gave a weight , so they could ship a couple if engines in a bay , without being "overweight". FF |

When I registered my dump truck, I talked to the DOT officers in South Carolina. I was told there were 2 weight limits. 1 was the registered weight & the fine for being over that weight was in the hundreds of dollars. The other was something like the federal highway maximums. The fine for being over that one started in the thousands of dollars & went up from there. Here is some interesting reading ;) http://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/rules-regulations/administration/fmcsr/fmcsrruletext.asp?rule_toc =778§ion=658.17§ion_toc=2135 I decided the extra money up front was good insurance against fines for being over the registered weight. The whole time I had that truck, I only used it for 'farm' use - mulch for the yard, gravel for the drive way, etc. Not once was I ever stopped by the DOT. |

I don't know if this will help you, but our '53-4104 is a complete conversion. We scale in just under 28000. 10 plus front and 17 plus rear. For license purposes we used 32000, because as Fred said, that is the close to the physical limit, and I don't like fines that cost more than the bus. Cable |

Pat, Why not just take it to a scale? They are at grain elevators, truck stops, scrap yards and I'm sure that there are many other options. Good Luck! Glenn |
