I found the following on the "getting started" page... I am personally getting tired if the continued violations listed in sentence 2. Flames, insults, and personal attacks will not be tolerated. It's fine to disagree strongly with opinions, ideas, and facts, but always with respect for the other person. I hope I haven’t contributed too much to this trend and am most open to your criticisms. A couple of days ago I was referred to as “Joe Lottawind’. Hi folks, Thanks for the kind words, gentlemen. Peter, which thread offends you? I'll take a look at it. Remember, though, when I edit for the purpose of continuity, it always manages to offend someone. I don't want that to be either you or "the other guy", so please don't be further offended when what you thought should be cut ends up remaning and something you thought should stay gets chopped - maybe even something YOU have said. It can happen. Either way, I end up with all the hate mail, not you, and especially not this board. The Rules and "Netiquette" instruction is weighted. Truth, invariably, prevails. Good response, Ian.......and thanx again for the best board on the net. Your TLC shows and those that whine, would no doubt find fault with Ben and Jerry's. Frankly, there's a lot more respect and courtesy shown on this board than on most streets in anytown, USA. Keep up the great work, and thanx again for keeping it squeaky clean. It's a pleasure to spend a few moments here each day and learn some fantastic stuff from a lot of folks willing to share.... at no cost. Try to get that at your local Attorney or Veterinary office. Ian, et al: Thanks for your thoughtful response. This is truly a fun place to visit and share ideas and knowledge. There is no particular thread that offends me; it is just that one of the more recent and prolific posters has been sprinkling his comments with “stupid, moron, idiot, etc”. Those kinds of comments are for angry kids; I get tired of hearing that kind of attack. I was hoping to catch his attention, and perhaps I have. I never meant to offend any one or to portray the group as big mouth slobs… I find none here. I would much prefer that there is no moderation to this or any BB. Better that we all treat each other with reasonable respect. Disagree? Heck yes!!! I am glad this got a little attention and hope no one took offense, let’s just be mindful of good manners (netiquette). Peter |
