A year ago there was a post about water injection into the engine. Bob Wies said he was going to install it on his next engine. Someone said they had experience with water/metanol injection. Snow Performance sells a unit for $900. Any updates? Has anyone installed a water injection system? |

I think I was the one that started that thread. I haven't applied that to anything but I have had lots of conversations with knowledgeable people. We have came to the conclusion that it is very possible and you will see benefits. When injecting water/meth into a DD you will have to be careful that it is set up to only inject at a high exhaust temp or at high throttle. Basically if your cylinder temps are not high enough oil contamination is a real threat. If you have the time to do some research you can build a kit for a couple hundred bucks. |

I have been reading a lot about water injection. This is an interesting and entertaining link on the subject: http://www.greaseolineplus.com/page2.html I will be trying water injection on my Jeep Cherokee which has an annoying ping (detonation, pre-ignition, whatever you would like to call it), but it seems like it may benefit a diesel engine even more. |
