It has become pretty evident that one of the first things one needs to consider in the configuration of a floor plan is the placement of the commode. We are not raising the roof which leaves very practical space between the wheel wells for a stool. The holding tanks are to be kept inside, under cabinets, not under the floor. Therefore, for the stool to sit on the floor, rather than being raised to sit on top of a tank ( the area between wheels would not accommodate much of a tank) one needs to "lift" the evacuated matter and on down line to a large holding tank. Question: Is there a reasonably priced unit, marine or otherwise, available? China bowl preferred. I note in the marine catalogs, most units are in the $500 to $1000 neighborhood. Too fancy for my budget. Doubt I'll spend that much on a driver seat. Having said that, maybe I could arrange a front commode to double as a place for the driver to sit... Thanx. RCB |

I picked up a Thetford Aurora from www.campingworld.com for around $200. I am happy with it. One of the problems with not raising the roof is headroom for the shower. It can be a little cramped in there. |

I had a similar situation in a boat. Wanted a better head and tank system. Put a Sealand full sized head on a 5 gallon stainless tank made to fit the area. I used a hand operated pump to transfer to the main tank when needed. A maserator pump would have worked but I wanted simple/fool proof. |
