Asking for reference or experiance for water pressure in my coach I have used the sureflow high volume but still not what i am looking for. I want to shower just like i do at home so i require 30 to 50 lbs of water pressure to have this. Does anyone know of a 12 volt water pump that will produce that or is everyone using 110 volt pumps and hooking up to their inverters. IE Marathon does anyone know what they use?? Thanks in advance |

What you need is an Aquajet RV Series pump. 5.3 GPM open flow and 65 PSI shutoff/40 PSI turnon. I have one in my conversion and you can't tell it's not city water. My shower head delivers 2 GPM and this pump handles that and a sink faucet or toilet flush without blinking. Check it at: www.aquatec.com. Cost is about $145 retail, $95 as an OEM converter. Absolutely no noticable pressure variation with a 2 gallon accumulator tank. Would I buy another for my next conversion? In a heartbeat!!!! Jim |

Here is what G Lowry wrote sometime ago (I dug it out of my personal data files): If you will accept the voice of experience.... I originally installed the old standby, a Shureflo pump. It performed as all of those pumps did. To overcome one of its downfalls, the brrp, brrrp, brrrp when ever you had a small flow on, I had installed a pressure tank. The low flow (2.8 gpm) could only be corrected by a larger pump. Summer before last, as we were going to the FMCA rally in Maine, the pump started going and failed when we arrived at the NAS. The morning the displays opened, I went straight to the Shureflo booth and there was no one there. Checking out the $CW$ booth, they only had the same pump I had or one of smaller capacity. I knew that Shureflo made pumps with greater capacity but no one seemed to have any. I then heard of a new pump and went to check it out. It was the Aqua jet made by Aqua Tech of Irvine, CA. Their pump put out up to 5.3 gpm and at pressures up to 65 psi. I got one and installed it. WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!! We get much better pressure and I can take a shower while the wife is doing dishes. Also the Brrrp, brrrp is gone because the Aqua jet is a variable speed motor and only comes on fast enough to provide the flow needed. It does not come on full force as the Shureflo. It is also much quieter. At the last convention, I see where they have come out with another pump. I am not familiar with the specs on it. I do suggest that you and anyone else check out these pumps. They are slightly more expensive but are worth it. |

Shurflo has an interesting looking two-headed pump that comes in both 12V & 24V. Flow rate of 5.6 to 7.0 gpm and shut off of 45 PSI. Also comes with a 2 gal stainless steel accumulator tank. Anybody out there use this? Let me know, please. |

I have never wanted to dewater at that speed , but have found that the $135.00 Sureflo has a motor 2X the size of the small ones and does work well. Look up Galleymaid if you need fire hose cap 12V stuff. As usual you get what you pay for , the Galleymaid will be on the other side of $500, but real great at keeping multiple showers , galley , and dish & clothes washers running at full cap, all at same time. |

Fred- The reason I want to "dewater at that speed" is because I haven't found a reasonably priced, long lasting holding tank guage. So what I do is to empty the black tank, fill the fresh water tank and shut off city water. I then use the fresh tank for all the water. When it is down to about 1/4 tank, I dump the black tank and refill the fresh. Best, cheapest and most reliable guage I could come up with, since I can't see into my black tank. Of course, while dry camping, faucets don't have to be opened full and the water lasts just as long as with a 25psi camper pump. Jim |

Jim , Most black tanks are directly under the toilet bowl. The tank gage is a quick look down. Sorta like looking at the congerss, don't breathe , or look too long! FAST FRED |

"Sorta like looking at the congress" Hey Fred, (you rebel)...it may be ugly to look at, but it is the best congress corporate MONEY could buy. If you don't like your Representative on the hill, you can always buy a better one. Of course if you can't keep him fed, he will just find a higher bidder. Thanks for adding to my usage vocabulary, I love dropping descriptively analgious idioms on the unsuspecting public. Excusing myself to "check on the government" will be SOP for a while. |

Actually the concept of corperations purchasing favors from congerss is not correct., a construct based in ignorance. MOST corps. give just to be left alone, not for a special deal. Billy Gates was too stoopid to flush a few million down the Rat Hole , and look what congerss/ "justice" dept did to Microsoft! Every year the clowns bring totally horrible "legislation" to the floor , just to spur corp "donors" into opening the till , to be left alone. EXTORTION , by any other name is still extortion. If you begin to enjoy "visiting congress" , your ready for a career in "public service". FAST FRED |

To the original posting Maintaining a high flow rate at 40 psi is a piece of cake with a pressurized water system. George Myers |
