I need to go to SF and move my daughter. The basement is bigger than my Suburban and I am going up to the area with the bus (4905) any way. Anyone know if there are "legal" restrictions on any SF city streets or the Golden Gate or Bay bridges? Yes, I know the streets are narrow and tight, but they are OK by Baja standards... Peter |

Peter - The "Streets of San Francisco" are not the problem for your 4905 - it's the hills! That is, if you still have the manual gearbox. If you have an automatic, no sweat - Muni, the transit system, runs all over town, up hill and down, as do lots of tour/charter buses. If you still have the manual, you'll have to be careful about what streets you attempt. Some are too steep to get started on w/o burning out the clutch. You'll also need to practice using the parking brake to hold the coach on a hill with the clutch in, then releasing it as you come on the throttle and thru the take-up point. No restrictions at all on the bridges - that's how lots of tourists and a huge percentage of employees get to the city - on a bus!! (BTW, don't call it "Frisco" - all the locals call it "the city".) Enjoy! RJ PD4106-2784 Fresno CA |

RJ: Frisco is brand name for jeans, or a tip off that you are not a local. I grew up 50 miles away, my Dad was born in the City. I am auto, no problem. Starting on some of those hill would still be a challenge, but I will stay on the flatter routes. Thanks, Peter |

Frisco jeans! Are they still selling the frisco black loggers (pants) somewhere? I have tried desperately to find either the frisco of the carhartt loggers to no avail. Have been told that carhart quit making them. Don't know about frisco. jw |

I was in San Francisco last week. Saw a couple of huge tour busses there and transit busses all over the place. Some were the long articulated ones in the downtown area. If your daughter lives somewhere near the top of Lombard street you're in big trouble. The bigest problem I had was trying to find a place to park a rented Mustang. Guess it depends on exactly where you are going. |

Thanks for the confidence builders, the trip was a piece of cake. Turns out her street was almost flat and as wide as they come in the City. It was kind of fun being a tour bus in SF for the day, I sure miss that town….. Peter |

N.W. Loggers wear Lee "Boss-0-the-Road" 88's(buttons)or 77's (zipper). Both have suspender studs and the cut is much looser other brands. |
