I just bought a Bridgestone 12R22.5 R250 (used) tire to use as a spare. Is this a 75 mph tire? I tried to look it up on the Bridgestone site but could not get info on this tire! It is an all position tire. Any help is appreciated. Thanks, Bob |

Does the tire have a model name or number? Most tire companies publish the speed rating for their tires. For that you need a tire model number. |

Robert - Quite possibly it is rated at 75 mph, but, to be sure, check with a truck tire place that handles Bridgestones. Give them the tire info you posted here, along with the serial number off the sidewall. If it's a transit tire rated at 50 or 55 mph, it still would probably be ok as a spare, as long as you drove accordingly if you ever had to use it. FWIW & HTH. . .

I had Bridgestone R250s. Yes, this tire is speed rated at 75mph, so long as the manufacturer's load and inflation tables are followed. You should check the date code, though. I would not use any tire older than 5 years. -Sean http://OurOdyssey.BlogSpot.com |

It has come to my attention that I need to clarify: I had Bridgestone R250F tires. The specs on which can be found here. The big lettering on the sidewalls only read "R250," however. AFAIK, the "R250" (without the "F") has not been made for at least four years (there is now also an R250ED), so I will re-emphasize what I wrote above about tire age -- if it's over five, discard it. -Sean http://OurOdyssey.BlogSpot.com (Message edited by sean on June 13, 2008) (Message edited by sean on June 13, 2008) |

I just replaced all six with new firestones. The tires looked alright but I had a rear blowout when I first brought the bus home. Turned out the date stamp on the rears was 14 years old. Yes it costs a lot to put on new rubber but it is cheap when you look at what is at stake |
