Hello everyone. I am very happy with my 'new' 4106. I am looking to replace the stereo as the cheapo in-dash system it has sounds horrible. It has four older 6.5 inch speakers mounted in the cabinetry. Two in the very front and two in the very back. Though the speakers are not new, they look like they are in decent shape along with the wiring that goes to them. I am pretty much lost here and need advice. I love to listen to my music, but it does not need to blow my ears out if you know what I mean. Of course, cheaper is better, but I also understand that you get what you pay for. I would like a new in-dash unit (and probably speakers) that can play cd's, hook up my mp3 player to and maybe hook my tv's up to also???? I have about a 23" in the living room and a (old) small 13" in the bedroom. Do they sell a car stereo that you can hook a 'home tv' to? What do you guys have and/or recommend? In addition to the previous mentioned equipment, what about VCR or DVD player? Thanks for any info. |

Hi Celia, This Pioneer is the latest and most affordable indash multimedia dvd, navigation, ipod, rear camra system, xm/serios sat, and HD radio. http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Products/Navigation/In-Dash/AVIC-F700BT I have the 3 year old AVIC-N3 that has a motorized 7" screen and I think, the most user friendly navigation system out there. This new AVIC-F700 is very affordable compaired to the past versions. Good Luck Nick- |

The brand doesnt matter , the FEATURE you want is the wireless remote controll. That way a good system is worth installing it as it will work on the road ,and be your Hi Fi when parked. Its great to be able to change the station or volume from the lounge recliner! FF |

Nick, Petty neat unit for the price. The trouble is something new is always around the corner. I sure like the all in one feature. Beats having two or three devices to get what you want. My problem is everytime I buy something and another feature comes up that I wish I could have. Oh well, that's the price for keeping up with the Jones's or should I say the Badame's.....Hee Hee.... My problem with the "all-in-one" type of ANYTHING, is that if any part of it has a problem, you must send the whole thing in to get it repaired and sometimes that can be months. They are nice and handy, but if my gps goes out, I still have a stereo, etc, etc. Just my 2 cents worth. |

Wow, that is neato! GPS navigation never even entered my mind as something I could get in a sound system. HMMMMMMMMM.... I will have to decide if I want to save up for something like that, though it does seem like the investment may be worth it, especially when I am driving by myself. Reading threads like these always make me feel so low-tech! I thought I was getting fancy just wanting something that my tv sound could play through. :P |

You can get a kenwood with a DVD player and maybe a TV tuner online. I bought mine from Ebay. Don't buy directly from China. I tried that. Shipping was fast but product was wrong and three failed. That was before the units were readily available from US stores. The built in TV tuner allows you to run all the sound through one system and use only one remote, except to turn the TV itself on and off. Don't spend too much the first time. It is easy to change a radio. Even the $60 Pyle units may work and help you see what you really want. I spent $200 on one that will also work with a back up camera, but the TV tuner is not by channel, but more like an FM tuner. That is why it is not a bad idea to start cheap. Warantees do not cover not liking the product. |
