I'm about to write a check for either the 7KW or 8KW model. The 7 is $4800 and the 8 is $5000. Any opinions on these gensets? They are snclosed units and are supposed to be very quiet. They are smaller in height than any of the other. A big plus when it comes to installation.

Thanks...Ross

I was thinking the same thing...Especially since the bus will not have a large inverter to pick up where a smaller genset might fall short.

AS a guess I would think its going to be the same engine , only a slightly bigger generator end.

SO the low power point, where you are hurting the engine , by what is really only ideling with slight load would be the same.

Is the generator end US ?, Croatia ? that could be a big Quality issue , I'd pick the US if avilable.

LIMA brand if avilable.

The last one I saw had a Dayton generator on it, (Dayton,OH,USA). I'm with Jake, an extra KW for two 'Bills" is a bargain. When you need to pick up a heavy load someday, you'll be glad you have it to spare. Cheers...JJ

I installed a CD7000 two years ago. It has a 30 Amp CB on each leg. It has about 100 hours on it now. It starts and runs great and has been trouble free so far. But it is NOT quiet. For campground use sound attenuation is needed or you may get some complaints from your neighbors.
Our coach is all electric with two roof airs. Some power management is needed when running the roof airs and cooking. On the other hand, not much needs to be turned on to keep a proper load on it.
Were I to do it over, I think I'd buy the 8K unit, I've read they are quieter.
