I have discovered that I have been infected with the KLEZ virus (worm). If anyone has received an e-mail from me in the last 2 weeks, please check your computer for viruses. Only one of the infected messages was from a name I reconized via a Bus BBS. Sorry Lorna |

KlezH is all over the place. Norton 2002 has picked it up 5 times in less than a week on my incoming. We really do need a big dungeon for all these deliberate virus designers. So far Norton can't dispose of it, only quarantines it. |

Hmmmmm, my Nortons deals with it and any virus that it has to quarantine, I delete from the quarantine folder afterwards. Of course, I don't scan incoming email and let Nortons deal with anything I open by mistake. When it was scanning the incoming mail, the Nortons was trying to scan my server and delete things there, boy that was a fun day. All these "I made a new program, hope you enjoy it" things go in the trash anyway. Peter. |

Peter: Thnks for the tip on deleting the quarantined files; It had not occured to me to just go delete them! Also, maybe your experience w/Norton scanning your server may now explain why I didn't get any e=mail one day last week--most unusual for an average day of 25 or so. |

Actually, what happened was that I had been away for a long weekend and when I went to download 540 emails, it got to number 350 or so and Nortons found this virus. It deleted it from my computer and then tried to delete it from the server as well. The server would not allow my computer access to it's memory and so it all stopped and then retried the download. After the fourth set of duplicates up to number 350, I turned it off and phoned the server's staff. They then found the infected email and deleted it there and I turned off the email scan and all was ok. I have never used it since and really never needed it as Nortons catches anything bad if I go to open it, but as I said before, I don't open things that I don't know. I have my Nortons set to update and scan every Friday, so I make sure the computer is on and I sleep well at night. Peter. |
