Hello all
Just wondering the latest way of "smoothing" foam after application. Thanks JB

Have the contractor that does the spraying smooth it out for you.

May cost a few bucks more, but it saves you from having to do it. . .

I ended up making myself a 3' long bow-saw out of a bent hunk of 1" square steel tubing with a piece of course bandsaw blade tensioned and then welded across it's ends. Cuts very nicely, flat, and not much mess... no need to grind at all...

Cheers

A replacement blade for a firewood Bow saw , mounted on an autobody "jitterbug" sander is really fast .
BUT it does get dusty !
Even tho most excess foam comes out as slices.

this worked for me, use a full plastic face sheid ,and a pillow cace ,cut a hole in the pillow case large enough tosee through and use some double faced tape and glue it to the face sheild, get an old vaccum cleaner , take the motor and air pump out ,clean it real good inside and outconnect it to a garden hose so that it can stay out side away fron the dust. connect the other end of the hose to the top of the face sheild on the in side, put the head gear on and use a peice of light chain or rope to hold the bottom of the pillow case down on your shoulders when the pump is running, us your shop air to blow of the fine dust of the outside of the mask as you work. do not use your shop air for inside your face mask as the oil from the compresor can be deadly.a long cheap knife that you can bend to about 45"angle to cut the big chunks off the a 5 in, angle grinder with a very course wheel works great . a peice of 1/8 oak ply wood4 in. wide ,3 ft. with a little hand hold nailed on each endas hand holds work to find the high spots just hold it on the places you are grinding and it works as a template this worked great for me might work for you mel4104

I used about a 1/2" thick 6" dia round piece of plywood with #10 wood screws screwed through the back side to stick out the front about 1/2 - 3/4" and mounted this disk onto an angle grinder. Removes about pea size chunks and removes stuff fast. Then used a belt sander to do the finish trimming. I've think I remember reading using machine bolts removes even bigger chunks.
