Ken My gen comes all the way out so I can work on it. I did this by using a 3"x3"x5/16" angle iron at the front of the gen compartment to slide the unit out on. This is bolted at each end to the bus body. Next I used 2 pieces of angle iron 1 1/2"x1 1/2"x1/4 x5' long bolted to the gen mounting pan. These are running across the width of the bus with a short cross piece at the very rear of them. I used a 3/4" threaded rod attached by welding a nut on either side of a hole in the rear cross piece and a 3/4" coupling nut welded to the 3x3 angle iron that is fastened to the body. To this I attach a small crank and turn the gen in or out as needed. It works really well. There is also 2 pieces of angle iron fastened to the gen box at the rear of the gen compartment above and below the 2 sliding angle irons to keep the gen level as it comes in and out of the compartment. When I crank the gen out I have to remove the exhaust as it is not part of the gen. I used a 1 1/2" threaded pipe coupling to do this. I hope you can figure this out as I have no way of putting pictures on here. I only get on here once in awhile when I come to Toronto. Bill |
