I saw a 1978 Prevost Champion for sale near my home town. Was considering looking at and maybe making an offer on it. I'm not familiar with the Prevost's at all. Anybody out there with some insight as to what I should be looking for (good or bad ) on this coach. It's been partially converted. It apparenty has an 8V-71 with 6 speed manual trans. Any info would help. Thanks.

I have a friend with a very nice 78 Prevost Champion. Should be almost identical to the LeMirage except for the rectangular windows and hump. A cap will cover the hump and the rectangular windows that you keep will let in less heat than the LeMirage Windows. I have a 1981 LeMirage with no LeMirage curved windows. Find a bus mechanic to look it over before putting out your money.

I managed a bus company that had many Champions and Mirages in service and still do. There is no difference between these and any other Prevost other than the body. Check the usuals: engine and body for rust. I wish I had the 6 speed in my bus now. I drove hundreds of thousands of miles with that tranny and loved it. It has syncos in it, that sort of work, but you still have to double clutch a bit.
