Looks Like I'll need an overhaul of my 6-71 - How much should I have to pay. The first people I spoke to quoted $1000.00 per cylinder, about 6,000.00 total. Thats in-frame, through the oil pan. Also, if anyone knows a good mechanic at a great price who could do this in LA, MS, or AL, I'd appreciate the info.. JT4104

As far finding a mechanic for a reasonable price someone suggested hanging around the D.D. shop at quitting time and asking if any of the mechanics do work on the side.
I went into the dealer here where I lived to get a part and asked if I could speak with a mechanic to ask a question. worked like a charm. He works for about $20. an hour. give it a try.
