I want to: a) remove a satellite dish from the roof, 4-6" diameter hole to fill b) repair a corroded (orange but not too deep) area over 3 rivets on a seam near overhead the driver c) touch up 2" areas with chipping Imron paint I'd be much obliged for any dos or donts on any of those |

Re a)...check the marine suppliers for inspection ports...clear or opaque; any number of sizes. Sounds like it would fit just fine. I have three 6 inch ports in my roof (smoked on all three), with bottom "glass" on two and a screw in solid for the GPS receiver on one. Makes for great "skylights". For several years no problems. FWIW RCB |

Steve, Just curious why you are removing satelite? Do you find you don't use it or you like the smooth unclutered look? If it broke let me know what brand so I know what to avoid |

I just don't use the dish. Never had it working. Tried to aim it, test it etc. Just not worth the bother and its ugly. If I ever do spend alot of time in the bus and need TV, I'll get an automatic unit or a tripod unit. In general, it seems like a bad idea to build in electronic equipment, tvs, stereos, etc. It gets obsoleted too fast compared to the life of the bus. Ever seen a bus with a built-in 8-track player? |
