hey folks, I am wanting to put a transit style folding bike rack on the front of my MCI 1989 102a3. The bumper releases forward to expose the spare tire, as you may know, which may be a problem... I am not interested in a hitch mount rack, as i will eventually tow a vehicle or a trailer... and a ladder rack seems weak and impractical. Do you know of any brands to investigate, or have any suggestions of how to go about making one (last resort)? |

I installed a standard 2" receiver on the front of my bus and used a bike rack that I already had. Cheap and simple. Len |

How about mounting a hitch receiver under/behind the bumper leaving room for the bumper to pivot? Then you could use any hitch mounted carrier and remove it easily when not needed or to access the spare. Don 4107 |

How about folding bikes like Dahon makes. You have a lot of storage area to put them into so no need to mount a rack on the front. Just a thought. Bill |

Hojji - They make hitch mounted bike carriers that allow the hitch to be used for towing. But if you're going to tow a trailer, why not mount a bike rack on the trailer, and use a standard hitch mount when you're not towing? By the way, there's probably a million RVers with ladder mounted bike racks out there. They look safe enough to me! Bike racks |

On our Sportscar the front tire carrier hinges down. It was EZ too weld recievers to the hinge , with out interfearing with their function. Now we carry up to a 600cc BMW , on a removable rack (coach headlamps shine thru the bike wheels), although Honds 250 is normal trails bike. Might work for your coach. FF |
