I have a 1984 Eagle 10 and the brake lights stopped working on the way home from Florida. When I hit the brakes the King Cruise would not kick off so I shut it off on the switch. The parking brake lights still work but when I hit the brake I have no brake lights. Ideas?????

Dennis, start by checking the switch located in the bottom door and your relay in the upper door. good luck

Dennis,

Your brake light switch isn't working. That's the reason the cruise won't kick off.

If your turn signals work that shows the circuit to the brake lights and the bulbs is ok.

As posted above, it could also be the relays if you have any.

Also check your turn signal switch. This switch is supposed to disconnect your brake lights on one side when in the turn position. Make sure it is dead center, then check the brake lights.

After going through 3 brake light switches because of the extra lights on the tow and coach I installed a relay that the brake light switch works and that in turn takes the load of the extra lights. The one that I used was like the starter relay on a car. Been working fine for about 15 years now.

Thanks for the ideas. When it gets a little warmer and the snow goes, I will fix it. I will let you know what I find.

Just a quick update on my brake light problem that was solved today. I lost my brake lights on the way back from Florida. I chased wires and fuses for two days without any good results. My bus nut friend and mechanic for many of New Englands bus nuts came over and found the problem. He looked at the wiring diagram on the inside of the electrial panel door and saw that fuse number 29 was the brake light circuit. I took the one from the P.A. circuit and replaced it. Thanks to Mark Willette, I am safely on the road again. Thanks again for the ideas offered when I first posted the problem. I know I should have seen the diagram but it seems just seeing the door itself is getting more difficult.
