Howdy fellow bus folks and naibors, Ma says me be'n genius and all I shoud rite and tell you all about hour new RV bus we done got a few yers ago. Seems we didn't git no respect at the camp'n places with the old retired school bus, even thow we had it painted up kinda perty an all. It don't take no time at all if'n you use one of them roller paint things, kinda makes short work outa gittn rid of all them winders to. Anyways - we just parked it in the back to use as a chikin house - seemed like a good use since it was a bluebird...Now that old bus shor was easy to work on thow compared to our new MCI RV bus motorhome and alot easier to crawl under. Ma likes this one a hole lot better and even more better then our old house, says its way more good not to have to go outside to git to the outhouse. Anyways Ma says we should share all what weve learned since owning this here recreational vehikle, so heres a good'n and if'n ther was a contest for the best bus fix'n tip - this next one wood be sure to win first place. It's a fine trick I have used fur putin up winder curtins that you shood all no about. It don't take much cost nor effort on yurn part neether. All it takes is a bunch of them shiny foil like emergency blankits and a few dozen of them sticky roll fly catcher strips that you can git at the hardwar store. Yurn gonna be surprized at just how ease this is. You jist stick them fly catchers strips over the top of all yer winders and then cut them shiny blankit things into squares that fit on over yer winders with the shiny side out and stick them to the fly catchin strips. Presto it fixis three things at one time. Yor nabors wont be a eyeball'n yur missus goodies when she's a chasin ya round the bus nakid - - yer bus will stay much cooler in summer and third, all them pesky winderflys will git stuck to the top of yer fancy new winder curtins - its all kinda automatic to - when that yeller strip turns kinda black it's probly time for new curtins! - Now shoot - it jist dont git no simpler then that and ther darn perty to. Last week seems our RV werent pump'n air as fast as it used to. So me and my boys decided we should check it out and see if we could fix something. You all probly know them MCI buses sit perty low to the ground and its perty hard to scurry under one. But I got a trick that werks real good! The gas powered air pumper on the back of my old pickup truck cranks out over 300 psi so I just fired that old rascal up to the max and inflate the bus using an old air hose - you aut to see that old bus rise up at attention with over 300 psi in the air bags. You all of a sudden have all kinds of room under the bus. If you dont get a good compreser like mine you could use your oxysetalene set up, just plum in your oxygen bottle and crack it open carful like. Be real carful if you have overhead power lines you don't want to lift yer bus up so high you could get electrucuted. Its also a real good way to test your air bags! Kinda a go/no go type of test, if'n you hear a real lowd noise thats probly a no go! Anyways I want ya all to be think'n safty and be safe at all times so make sure you go fetch a few suitible chunks of firewood off'n yer pile to jam tween the air beam and the bottom of the bus - make sure you use good hard wood like hickery - Grandpa who taught me this trick years ago used some of that soft yeller pine once and it didn't work as well. It was a right fine bury'n but it was the flatist pine box I ever done seen. We tossed on a sheet and it made a right sutable table for the wake victual fixins. I know Grandpa's in a much better bus now but we all sure miss the old gentleman and his valuabl tricks of the trade. Anyway's now that you have yer safty devices in place be sure to kick the tires a few times and shake the bus real hard to make sure everything is safe (allways remember you can never be to safe). Now we wuz ready to git to work, but me being a husky sort and able to fill out my Dicky bibs quite rotundly round the middle, the chore was clearly going to fall to one of the boys. Problem is most all of the boys are bilt a bit like their Pa just shorter 'cept the 8 year old, Julius Bob - he's a slight boy, kinda sissy like, small hands and such, gits that from his Ma's side of the family I recon. Once heard his Uncle Ned turned sideways and walked right out of the county jail, wooda made it clean away to but with no place ta hide he layed down next to a telephone pole and pertinded to be the shade of a guy line wire, wooda worked cept the dogs sniffed him out. It was a few long months befor I could git anymore brake line antifreeze from ol uncle Ned ! Anyhoo 'ol Julius looks at me kinda skeered like when I points under the bus, his being perty close to his Grandpa and all, but I assures him that all safty measures are in place so not to worry, so he lays down his banjo and gets up outa the porch swing and wanders down in the front yard to the bus. I tie the old safty rope around his foot to help him git out, remember ya can't tie around both feet cuz it makes it too hard to crawl. And offun the youngin went. It was sure slick the agile way he slithered under that bus and fit tween the air beam. It's times like these that just make ya so proud to be a dotting father knowing yer boys can git the job done. Anyways bout the time he reached the air tanks we hears this loud "bang" ya'll can't believe how loud it was. I thought mabe the missus had spotted that pesky possum with the old 12 gauge again but ol Julius Bob wernt gonna wait to find out, he comes a squrtin out from under that bus like a crawdad in heat - his little heels jist a diggin furrows with the dirt a flyin miles an hour. I never even had a chance ta pull on the safty rope! Problem was he was so skeered he done swallowed his chaw and was standing there a hopping with a rope on one leg, gagging and his face turning six shades a red - so's I hands him my fresh can of Blue Ribbon and he takes a big swig when up comes that chaw, the rest of my beer and like prunes through a goose it's deposited all over the side of our RV bus! Now I gots to tell ya, I was kinda mad bout that cuz it took the dirt off the side in one big spot and now I was sure we might have to wash the whole dang bus! So's I throw's him a rag and tells him to git to clean'n, when I noticed the stainless steel under that puke was shinny as a brand new copper plated penny! So nows I got all the boys a swallering chaw and swiggin Pap's untill we git enuff puke to polish the hole buss. Maw say's were gonna try to sinthisize this fine stainless polich to make it smell better and git it to the market, so if any of you want to invest, just let me know at the next big buss gatherin. If'n you can't spot our shiny RV bus, I'm sure you will hear the hounds. I can't go without thankun yall for the fine free advise you've givn over the years. We all need a little help somtimes and it's perty hard to keep up with all them pesky rules and regulations 'bout these here buses so I'm sure glad about all the help'n people you meet when you drive a bus. Like that frinedly happy bus RV'n feller we met the other day. Why he just couldn't stop a grinnin and a laughin. Bus folks just seem to be real happy and without his help I would never a node we all need to spell out MCI in six inch regulation letters on the side of our bus. Now don't get me wrong, I don't got no reasun not to believe that happy fella driv'n that Eagle bus, but does MCI really stand for "More Awns Camping Inside"? I don't know what a Awn is but I guess it's somthing real good, thats why more of us the better, right? Must be why we all gather here. Yall have a real good April One day. Yer MCI bus buddy, Bubba Roddy Bob |
