I set a new record for slow trucks today: 1972 F-800 rollback wrecker. GVWR is 31,500, & it has a 2bbl 361FT gas engine, 5-speed manual, air brakes, 11R22.5 tires, & absolutely no guts. Top speed is 67MPH (after about 3/4 mile of flat road) at 3600RPM (on the governor). It's also hands-down the bounciest thing I've ever driven. |

The city where I work has a 1993 GMC topkick with a Fuller 6 speed and a 6:1 rear axle ratio and it tops out at about 55 MPH. |

Will it at least get out of its own way? I just drove the F-800 for 5 hours, and putt.......putt...... A gas engine in an MDT is a bad plan: I did ~85 miles, & burned 23 gallons of gas. |
