I installed my rebuilt n75 injectors in my 6v71 today. The previous ones were c60's. Pulls hills much better and accelerates nice although it smokes somewhat whereas before no smoke at all. I was nervous about the injector size being too big but it seems fine though I should watch the temp gauge on long climbs now. anyone else increase injector size for more power? with what results and what size injectors/motor do you have? Kirk--"Warp speed scotty" Scotty--" i am giving her all she's got captain but the warp drive is heating up i am afraid we have to go to impulse power" Kirk out----------- hehehe Stevebnut |

The usual problem with bigger injectors in a bus with an N engine is shortage of air. When I put N-70s in an N engine with 4 valve head I solved the air problem by putting a scoop on the air inlet on the side of the bus. Without getting into technical details on horsepower, etc., I was one gear higher on the mountain grades. Even at 25 MPH the ram air effect helps a lot. |

Hey Steve; Our old American LaFrance fire engines had either 671N or 8V71N Detroits and they had N90 injectors! Also saw 2500 rpm rowing thru the gears with the Fuller T-905 trannys. They sounded sssooo cool! The apparatus operators quickly learned how to keep their foot out of the mill until the rpm's had spooled up... To prevent the clouds of black smoke that occured if they did not. It was easy to learn--heck, even I grokked it!! Warp 9 Mr. Sulu!!!! |
