I am looking into using Temp Coat http://www.temp-coat.com/ to insulate my 1979 Crown. I have not been able to find much info on this product. Has any one used this? I heard from one bus-nut who used it for part of his bus and liked it, any other input would be appreciated.

Thanks

Kevin

I have used something similar , it was ceramic insulating beads mixed into the paint.

Rolled on it looked fine , but the surface had the consistancy of 200 sand paper.

This was a DIRT MAGNET of the first order!!

The roof needed scrubbing almost monthly , and a 50th inch or so of insulation never seemed to help the 1 1/2 already there.

Want to stay cool in the sunshine ?

WHITE ON WHITE paint kept clean.

Temp Coat is not designed as paint"TEMP-COAT® IS NOT A PAINT TEMP-COAT® SHOULD BE TREATED AS AN INSULATION". You can put it on the out side but is designed tobe inside. They say on their web site that 15mil is equal to 19" of fiberglass bats.

I ment R19, but i agree it sounds too good to be true. I have spoken to two guys who use it commercially, One guy for a meat company and they use it to insulate their trucks and the other one uses it to insulate hi temp tanks and pipes like steam. they both say it works well

also, good quality house paint applied to the roof works well as far as durability goes. 1/50 inch can help, but is it worth the downside. Spending the money on a good inside foam job would be a much better investment.

Is this stuff meant to be "reflective"? I mean, can it be used inside a roof panel and get the same insulation value as sprayed on the outside?

i am using a product called supertherm multiceramic. google it. ive tested it on a work van, it works GREAT. it does insulate like they say it does based on the comments of a few of the people that had rode in the van commenting on how great my ac or heat was based on the work season. "your van always feels comfortable as soon as you get in it" they say.

96 ford windstar white van, layer on the outside and indside r/19 value nenrgy penetration resistance. o and it finished smooth

Fred, when can i come by and visit the open house on that bridge you have on the market? ;)

does it come with a bridge owners association? if so the deal is out. i hate those people who feel like they have any business in my home and yard. if i want to collect 3 year old cars with blown motors then who are they to stop me?

According to their website it is an insulation product. For an RV or truck etc it is sprayed on the INSIDE. Not like the glass bead stuff that some put on their roof. They are sending me all the documentation along with a small can so I can test it my self. I plan on making up three plywood boxes, 1 insulated with fiberglass 19", foam 2" and temp coat 20mil. I will leave them in the sun for a day with remote temp probes in them then I will move them into the freezer and record my findings

I did my testing. For some reason I couldn’t up load the lab results file here. They are on the MAK board under temp Coat. You can make of it what you like. I know some others are testing also and I hope they let s know their findings.

Kevin, when I read the thread on "MAK", it said "my results follow" but there was nothing else there. Am I doing something wrong?
