They got the air leak fixed. It was what an where I said it was. Now they are trying to get the clutch adjusted or working properly??, then they hope to get to N.C. Things take time when working in the new / old bus world.

I was thinking about her too. She was having trouble lining up gigs. If she had a booking agent, it would probly help.

What single bus nut guy wouldn't hold a crush on nellie, I will say it seeing how gomer is to civil to just say it directly... but it is also about a mutual respect & encouragement over our common bus infatuation too, not just your communications efforts & great looks. Perhaps I am being bad & rude, but I must be honest, so my apology if any are offended. So you see V, we can all be dumb dumb.

The Continuing Saga of Nellie - Chapter Eight

Posted on Tuesday, January 27, 2009 - 7:11 pm:

"Anyway, I was just hoping one of you – or a few together –
could float me some funds… or authorize a portion of the bill on
your credit cards? Or something like that. If 10 guys would trust
me for a $100 bucks (or 20 guys would trust me for $50) it
would save my life.

I can definitely pay it back within 30 days, and even include a
personally autographed album (that, plus four bits, might get
you a cuppa coffee). "

Posted on Sunday, February 15, 2009 - 11:57 am:

"PPS. To all who helped me out: If you haven't already done it,
please send me your mailing address so I can send you a CD
when I get to VA."

---------------

Through the years, many of us have made promises that we
had found later we could not keep..or at least according to the
schedule we thought we could fit our promise into..

There's a fine line, that only time will define...

Let's not rush the gun...

(isn't that right, RC?)

(but uhhh.... a "reminder" probably wouldn't hurt, either?)
(Say... isn't a "CD" a "Certificate Of Deposit" ?)

... that has often been one of my problems with belief based promises McJohn, belief makes a good sedative when better solutions can not be concocted, but far to often make liars out of us all when run up against the details of reality.
Just a general comment on my own problems with belief & NOT a critic of any individual or events ; intended to help others on the board translate my often eccentric contributions & prevent assuming offence is ever intended. We do try not to do that here.

So then my "belief" about our attractive musically creative friend V , she will make good with those CD pledges when she is able to work it out. Life on the road with empty pockets and 35 or 40 feet of new responsibility is a enormous challenge to adapt to for anyone, let alone depending on the starving artist routine for support.
Girl you didn't abandon your bus at the first sign of trouble, that makes you a dedicated bus nut in "my way". I assume those that sent cash help on your first crisis, did so in part to help your bus. That is what we try to do here mostly, help buses out, usually by assisting there human operator ! I strongly e suspect there would be a lot fewer old bus conversions surviving if not for this boards collaborations.
Long live the buses...

I will also say although I was unable to help when this occured I have always helped people because it was the right thing to do expecting nothing in return. With this expectation you are never disapointed and sometime pleasantly surprised. Just my two cents

I never got one, but I didn't help out in the expectation that I would be rewarded here. My Bible says "if ye have done it unto the least of these, thou hast done it unto ME". That's reward enough for me.

For what it is worth. I helped Nellie because I have been blessed with the ability to help. It is very disheartening to be broken down and have the funds to fix your second love(bus). Mine broke down recently and I had the money but felt like I had been beaten. Had it happened at a different time I may not have been able to help. Those that could help did and those that could not at that time it was understood. I learned a lesson long ago and with family no doubt, if they need (not want) money just give it to them. It prevents hard feelings in the long run and you both get the blessing. If they pay you back, good. If not it was a gift anyway and you still get the blessing.

That's the best attitude to have, Wayne!

I guess the "promise" is what's caused some to wonder....

There are millions of well intentioned people that are losing
homes to the banks that they gave their promise to.. And
jobs lost at companies that are failing to keep their promises..

As we all should know well by now... crap happens.

Good intentions, but poor times.

I wasn't able to help at the time Nellie was having problems either, if I had I would not expect anything in return.

You guys have the best attitude which makes a bus community the best!

She will be back in her time I'm sure. It has to be hard trying to find gigs during these tough times. I wish her luck and blessings!

I got my CD's and are quiet happy. Nellie is one brave lady to take on a bus by herself, and I for one, will bend over backwards to help someong like that!

She'll be back when she has the time and place.
